About us

Toolux Design is the brainchild of Stefano Sapuppo and Giorgio Guerra, after years of experience in the field of visual arts, printing and design, and proposes a new concept of art and furniture entirely Made in Italy.

The identity of TOOLUX (Too Lux, ‘too much light’) lies precisely in the look and feel of the entire collection, which has as its key feature the use of transparent, coloured or fluorescent methacrylate (PMMA), entirely recyclable, mixed with equally precious materials such as marble, crystal and tempered glass, skilfully crafted or finished by hand by expert craftsmen.

Space is given to colours, essential shapes, plays of light and combinations of precious materials.

Your design experience

01

Light

The identity of TOOLUX (Too Lux, ‘too much light’) lies in the look and feel of the entire collection, which has as its pivotal feature the use of transparent, coloured or fluorescent methacrylate (PMMA) that will add a touch of light to any of your spaces.

02

Quality

The obsessive care in the research of each material and the attention to every detail are the cardinal principle of the brand, 100% made in Italy processed or finished by hand.

03

Joint architecture

Toolux proposes objects and furnishing complements based on the play of joints.
This makes it possible not only to reduce the use of screws and bolts to a minimum, but also to present futuristic design objects.

Materials

Carrara’s marble

Carrara’s marble is an excellence of Italian industry. It is extracted from quarries in the Apuan Alps, in Tuscany, and is the most valuable type of marble in the world. It is no coincidence that it is the material in which some of the most famous works of art such as Michelangelo’s Pieta and Canova’s Amore e Psiche are carved. The actual quarrying dates back to Roman times, but there is evidence of the material’s use even earlier. Its white colour comes from the purity of its composition and its colours and striations make this natural stone unique.

Roman Travertine

Roman Travertine is a high quality limestone marble characterised by a porous structure and irregular striations, used for many purposes in architecture and art. Originating from the city of Tivoli, it was quarried as early as Roman times and was used in the construction of many famous monuments, including the Colosseum, St Peter’s Basilica and the Trevi Fountain. Its natural beauty, the combination of warm colours, the porosity of the surface and the presence of streaks and veins make it a material of great value, able to create an atmosphere of elegance to the surroundings in which it is used.

Green Alps’ Marble

Green Alps’ marble is considered a material of great aesthetic value, refined and elegant.
Known since ancient times, this typically Italian rock has a compact and uniform structure and a remarkable colour variety. The basic tone is dark green, characterised by numerous lighter or darker shades that make the material unique. This is further enhanced by veins tending to white or yellow, which stand out against the green background and accentuate its ornamental power.

Methacrylate

Methacrylate is a thermoplastic polymer that owes its fame to its unique properties: it is crystalline (92% light transmission), 30 times stronger than glass and considerably lighter. Being more transparent than glass, it is comparable in its behaviour to optical fibre, and has the property of being more or less unbreakable. Cast PMMA is 100% recyclable through the distillation process of production waste, through which the basic monomer MMA is obtained and can be polymerised again. Given its characteristics, it is a material of absolute quality designed to be durable over time.

Tempered glass

Tempered glass is glass subjected to a special treatment characterised by strong heating to 700°c and then violent cooling with jets of cold air at low temperature. This process allows the material to take on special characteristics, including being thicker, giving it greater strength, having a smoother surface and taking on shinier reflections, especially in the ‘ultra clear’ colour offered by Toolux. In the event of breakage, tempered glass will pulverise into many tiny fragments, not being dangerous for people nearby, and for this reason it is also commonly called safety glass.
